1.
Why do you think heart disease in young women is increasing even though medical technology keeps improving?
(의학 기술은 발전하는데 왜 젊은 여성의 심장질환은 늘어날까?)
I think heart disease is increasing because of various social and physical factors. To quote from the text, “Socioeconomic and demographic factors also affect outcomes. For example, Black women have the highest incidence of high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes, which are all cardiovascular disease risk factors, and this is expected to still be the case in 2050”. The text states that significant hormonal changes women experience throughout life may be a contributing factor towards heart health, but scientists are yet to determine the exact reason.
2.
Why is heart disease often seen as an “older man’s disease,” and how might this stereotype affect young women’s health awareness?
(왜 심장질환이 아직도 “나이 많은 남성의 병”처럼 여겨질까?)
The unique signs and symptoms of heart disease in women are obscure compared to those of males. This stereotype may give a false sense of security to young women who may overlook potential symptoms of heart disease due to that sense of security.
3.
What everyday habits among teenagers or young adults today could increase future heart disease risk?
Examples:
- lack of sleep
- processed food
- stress
- screen time
- low physical activity

Do you think schools spend enough time teaching students about heart health? Why or why not?
I don’t believe schools spend enough time teaching students about heart health. I’m unsure of measures taken in other schools, but our school spends a large portion of time spreading awareness about mental health and diabetes but never heart health.
